Hello, Not sure if this is the proper place for this but here goes.
I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else.
I decided to move my Tivo box and cable box and TV to another room.
Setup exactly as before, turn on unit and it comes up with Welcome Powering up page.
After 15 to 30 seconds, the unit displaces a white page and does nothing else.

I called Tech support and am told I can either send the unit in for replacement.
But it will cost me $149.00 or I can got to the Tivo site and just buy another box.
So either way I figure my box was not usable.
So being a technology support personal in my day job, I decided to open my box and check the hard drive with some special tools.
It turns out the drive has been wiped and not by me.
So I have to question.
How easy would it be to send a command to my box to have this action carried out with the obvious benificial outcome?

The hard drive has partitions that Acrosnis will not recognize along with some small ext2 partitions. Have you ever put the TiVo in Standby? If so, try pushing the TiVo button once you get the white screen.

However, this is not likely because the TiVo should take several minutes to boot. It should stay on the Welcome screen for 90-120 seconds.

That would be the topmost button on the remote. It has the TiVo guy on it.

Bad hard drives are usually seen as a failure to move past the Welcome screen or a lock-up later. If you go to a white screen after only 30 seconds, it seems like something else might be wrong.
