Hello All,
I have a Bolt/Mini MOCA setup as shown in the schematic below that has been running fine for the past 2 years or so. Recently I was having trouble with the search function as well as voice search and after doing some digging I've noticed that the link light (one on right) on my Motorola MM1000 is not lit. I've power cycled everything in the setup multiple times and nothing seems to help. I know I am getting WiFi and wired internet so I don't think the modem/router is an issue. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this working again?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry that schematic was a bit misleading. I don't have a 2nd MOCA adapter connected currently. That was for future expansion that I have not done/needed yet. The MOCA adpater that isn't working is the one connected to the Modem/Router (top right of schematic).

Indicating no MoCA connection for your main MoCA/Ethernet bridge, this would preclude any network connection for your Mini's, so there just being a search issue is mysterious.

Rather than using a 2nd MoCA adapter... at the short-term expense of new recordings and Mini viewing, you could direct-connect the BOLT and MM1000 "Net" port via a short coax cable, and see how the MM1000's status LED responds ... and whether the BOLT can get an IP address and Internet connection. After that, order another MoCA adapter via Amazon or borrow one from a friend to test whether the MM1000 is faulty.

Separately, how far is the BOLT from the router? Could it be connected via Ethernet to a LAN port on the router and configured as the MoCA bridge (with the MM1000 removed from the setup, if only temporarily)?

edit: p.s. It might also be informative to post the MoCA stats from either the BOLT or one of the Mini's to see if the diagnostics indicate MoCA issues. (Your schematic appears perfect, outside any indication that the N-way splitter's ports are all connected or its unused ports capped w/ 75-ohm terminators.)

It hasn't been without issues, right? (per this brief thread)
Correct no issues for almost 2 years and then all of a sudden the link light stops coming on and I don't have search function. Also I just checked (it had been awhile since we turned the bedroom tvs on) but none of the minis are working either says they aren't connected to a network. I will find the information on the router and modem shortly and send that as well.

I do have another MM1000 and have tried that and get the same exact situation (no link light on but power and LAN are green).

I certainly can connect the MM1000 and the BOLT together with a short coax cable. Do I disconnect the MOCA adapter from modem as well? Where would I plug the line in from the ISP as it usually plugs into the Network port on the adapter?

For info the Bolt and router are within ethernet distance. If I removed the MM1000 from the system would I then get network at the mini's?

If you have 2 MM1000 adapters, use the 2nd, spare MM1000 to perform the suggested direct-connect test between the adapters ("Network" port to "Network" port), rather than using the BOLT. (I'd only suggested using the BOLT on misreading the "I don't have a 2nd MOCA adapter connected currently." statement. You *have* a 2nd MM1000, just not connected.)

Good point. For the brief direct-connect test, connect the wall outlet directly to the modem. The main MM1000 would remain connected to a LAN port on the router, but then its "Network" port would be connected directly to the other adapter's "Network" port. (Getting the modem connected to the wall outlet would only be necessary if wanting to do more with the direct-connect test than check both adapters' status LEDS... such as connecting a laptop/PC to the 2nd adapter's Ethernet port to test LAN & Internet connectivity via the direct-connect link.)

Correct, I have a second adapter, just not connected. The issue I had in that previous post from May was resolved by me just unplugging and restarting everything. Thinking my adapter had gone bad I bought a second one and plugged it in (while powering everything off). It came back online and worked perfectly so I tried the other adapter (the one I thought was broken) then and it worked as well. I will note that it was the LAN light and not the Link light out then and I think the Modem/Router just needed to be restarted.

To do your test I should connect my spare adapter to the one in use with a coaxial cable to the network port on both right? Do I disconnect the modem/router setup from the device port on the adapter in use?

Have you tried a full power reset this time around? (Power everything down... modem, router, switches, MoCA adapters, TiVo boxes, Tuning Adapters ... and leave it all off for a minute or three; then power each device up, in the order above, waiting for each to stabilize before moving to the next.)

Heh, I'd just updated my prior post w/ this info.

TL;DR: Getting the modem connected isn't needed if just testing the "LINK" status LED of the MM1000 adapters.

So I unplugged everything in the house and left them unplugged for a couple hours while I feed and played with the kiddos. I have started plugging them back in (in your specific order). My question comes at the MOCA adapter point of plugging them in. The modem, router and switch all come up fine with no issues. When I plug the adapter in I only get the Power and LAN lights coming on. Should I stop right here (should there be all 3 lights before turning anything else on) or should I proceed with turning the Tivo boxes and tuning adapters on? Does it make sense to change the ethernet cable to a different port on the switch? Is it common for switch ports to go bad?

The main MoCA adapter's MoCA status LED (MM1000's "LINK" LED) won't light-up until a MoCA connection is established with at least one other MoCA node; so, yeah, it won't be lit when only the MM1000 has been powered-up.

Proceed.

So its amazing what restarting things in a certain order can do. I tried multiple times unplugging everything and then just plugging it all back in at once. Clearly that is not the right way. When I plugged them in as you s=described one at a time everything worked properly. Problem solved now! thank you again for the help @krkaufman !

Good to hear, though it's gotta be frustrating/concerning that this issue has reared its head a couple times.
