I have got 2 semi-quick questions for people.

One, I am not sure if this started with the Fall 2007 Update or not, but one of my Tivo's seems to have lost its Name under the basic tivo/account info that is ON the Tivo itself. I still have it showing up online in my account, though I think it has changed in my Amazon Unbox account area as well (back to the last 4 digits of the service #). I went and changed it through my tivo online account, and I did a manual connection to try and get it to hopefully "see" the new name, but it doesn't. This is for my Series 3 (300 hr). My other 2 Tivo's do not have this problem at all (a Series 2 Humax 80 hr (DRRT800) DVD player/burner and a Series 2 DT 180hr unit).

Does anyone know if this is just another bug caused by 9.1 (which I have on all 3 Tivo's currently), or not?

My 2nd question was, does anyone know a list of the different Tivo's matching Model # to the first 3 of the Service #??? I have 2 Harmony remotes now, and I had noticed that with the S2 DT 180, if I use it's model numer (from what I guessed as being TCD649180) then it thinks it is a dual tuner series 2 with DVD player or burner or something. I have a Humax that is like this, but when the Remote thinks it has a DVD function of some kind, it tries to add extra buttons and stuff that is not needed for my basic DT device. I have been using the "TCD540180" which I think is the regular Series 2 180 hrs model code, but would like to have the real code (if it works) if at all possible.

I have done some extensive searching through the Tivo and Tivo community sites for a listing of these Model #'s with corresponding Service Code #'s and Names (eg. TCD-540180 - 540 ############ - Tivo Series 2 180 Hour) and have found nothing. I thought I would find it here first, but maybe I should just have tried searching with Google instead...

If anyone has a list, or if several people with different model #'s could help build a list, I think this could be handy to have (why this isn't already done with a sticky in the FAQs or something makes me wonder). Maybe I'll check out Wikipedia and see if they have something already, and maybe just get a link going to that from the FAQs section???

Thanks.

Wow, thanks.

:)

That page not only helps you find out the model # (for each corresponding service #) but also shows which models are Tivo only or other company specific (like Humax, Sony, Hughes etc) and has it all in a very nice chart. This page can also help you figure out what replacement/additional HDD you might need, depending on your model #...

Has anybody else had issues with losing the name of their DVR? I went ahead and renamed mine when writing my last post, and my series 2 DT showed the updated name just fine on the tivo unit, while the Series 3 was still showing the "<Name this DVR at tivo.com>" thing - which I HAVE already done and it just seems to want to stay blank?

*sigh*

Now it's time to set up the new Harmony 880 remote with 2 Tivo's being used on it. Didn't seem to work easily with my 670 -which now goes to the roommate's bedroom for use with the Humax DRT800 Tivo / Comcast (Motorola) Cable Box / XBox set up...

Hopefully I can get it to *not* control both Tivo's at the same time without as many glitches as I was getting with the not-as-advanced-remote.

Yes, my 2 week old TiVo HD has never received the name.

I have the Harmony controlling 3 TiVos and two other devices. I set up each TiVo to a unique number first with the TiVo remote then when setting up the 880 you point the correct remote at the 880 when adding the TiVos the Harmony software has you press a couple of buttons and seems to figure out the rest from there. Even works with the THD.

Ok, cool, it *is* a Series 3 bug/glitch then.

I usually only read these forums when I have a problem or want more info on something I know will be happening soon, so I tend to miss things like the quote below. I guess this DVR name issue will be fixed with the same (or around the same time as) November 2007 Update which will be the one that *finally* gets the Multi-Room Viewing and Transfers working for Series 3 units (still limited with the HD transfer options though).

Time to go back to my desktop and start programming this new remote...
