I recently changed from the Xfinity X1 cable DVR to a Tivo Premiere XL4 with a cablecard from Comcast. Everything is looking fine, cablecard paired without any issues, or so I thought.

But I have one problem. I can't tune to a channel that was available with the X1 equipment, and I don't know if it's a limitation of the Tivo/cablecard, or if it's an error elsewhere.

I could previously watch PAC-12WA in HD on channel 1330. With the Tivo this channel is not listed in the guide. If I tune directly to 1330, I get the message "Channel is not available, please contact your cable company for more information". This is the same message I get if I tune to a channel on which Comcast is not broadcasting a channel, unlike the "Channel not authorized" message I get if I tune to a channel that is not included in my package.

Is this an issue with the Tivo not tuning because it doesn't know the channel is available, or is this an issue with the cablecard not being able to tune this channel for some reason. I know that the channel is being broadcast, as I was able to tune to it with the Comcast equipment before (and I overlapped the equipment by three days making sure everything else worked as expected).

Thanks for you help.

Is the channel listed at all in the channels list? If not, this is a TiVo problem. If it is in the channel list, but you can't tune it, it is a Comcast issue. You should check to see if all channels that you subscribe to are viewable as this may be a cablecard pairing issue.

Thanks. It took a couple calls to Xfinity and Tivo to get this sorted. In the end you are correct. It's not in my channel list and TIVO has to do whatever they do to get it added. They said it takes 5-7 business days.
