Strange thing is it sometimes works with the Enter/Last button. Two programs are both buffering 30 mins. It doesn't always work. My guess is that I got lucky and one (or maybe both?) of these channels is being "watched" on the main TiVo.

That's it. It's because the tuner the mini chose was already on the channel, so it had the buffer.

This is my main issue with the mini, not being able to cycle through a available tuners. As I mentioned in another thread, if this screws up thr main tivo user, then add a setting to designate which tuners the minis have access to. So the main Tivo can lock say 3 or 4 and the other 2 or 3 would be the ones available to the mini to cycle through.

Thus would make the mini much more enjoyable.

So what you can do is go to your main tivo unit(the one you are stealing the tuner from) and set the tuners to the channels you want to watch on the mini. Then when you goto the mini and turn to one of those channels, it will use the tuner that already is on the channel, on the main tivo, thus it will have the buffer.

I think this is the way it works as I was able to do this last night, being able to swap (with the Enter key) between the football game and tennis. All the while, BOTH channels maintained their buffers.

The key is to NOT change to a channel that is not being viewed on one of the tuners on the main tivo, otherwise you will lose the buffer.
