Mini Won't play recorded video

I have a Bolt Vox and one of the original Minis. Live TV plays fine. However, I can't play any recorded videos. I just get a black screen with a grayish arrow on it. FF, skip, don't do anything. All I can do is hit the Tivo button or go back to live tv/guide. This seems to have started to occur once they rolled out the new software for pre-roll ads. Anyone experience this?
