Anybody know where the IR receiver is actually located on the first gen mini or does somebody have a picture of the internal board?

I figure somebody must know saving me the effort of opening my unit up and potentially causing damage.

Have you tried using a flashlight to search the front? Usually you'll see an odd-colored lens behind the black plastic that tells you where it is.

If memory serves me, it's somewhere between the last I in Mini and the little indicator light.

I checked, didn't see it the front seemed to have the same transparency across the whole unit.

I'll pop the unit open in the next day or so when I get some time.

You memory is correct, I opened the unit up and found that the plastic was thinner over the IR receiver and over the little white LED in the front. Even when the cover was off I held a flashlight behind the case and was unable to see a difference indicating where the IR receiver and LEDs lived.

For future reference attached are pictures of the inside of the top cover and the top of the board.
