EDIT: It resolved itself overnight and the Mini is now updated and working.

I just got a new to me Bolt to replace my dead Roamio.

My Mini needs to upgrade to the new user experience but I've tried a dozen times and it crashes every time with the error MSG_C502_ID.

Both have stable ethernet connections.

Any ideas?

a c501 error generally means tivo servers are down, so i imagine the c502 is closely related, or at least a networking error - can the mini access online apps?

It won't do anything other than try to upgrade.

You might be able to downgrade the Bolt and then have the Mini work with the downgraded version. It sounds like you weren't using Hydra before, so that may be a better option for you:

When it asks for you to choose a country during Guided Setup, hit the Info button. Post the software version it displays.

The Bolt is on 21. The Mini was on 20 but I can't get into guided setup. The only thing it will let me do is try to upgrade.
