Hi everyone,

I've been happily using a Mini Lux in one room and Roamio Plus in another for a number of years and over the past week have come across the following problem: the Mini Lux is unable to detect the Roamio Plus and as a result cannot watch live TV or stream from the recorded DVR on the TV connected to the Mini Lux. I am however able to watch live TV and DVR directly from the Roamio Plus.

I am using MOCA for the internet connection.

I've tried some basic troubleshooting tips. I've reset my router, manually forced network connection on both the Roamio Plus several times and the Mini Lux and I'm still out of luck.

The Roamio Plus is rather old, about 6 years, so I'm afraid there is some network card or failure and I'll need to buy a new one.

I appreciate any ideas or tips

Thank you.

In Network Diagnostics on both TiVo's there is a section on MoCA Signal Strength. What does it say?

Consider moving one of the units right next to the other in order to connect with short coax cables and see what the Signal Strength is like then.

Can you provide details on your Coax Wiring?

I had the exact same thing happen to me with a Mini Vox and a Bolt Plus. I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. I even bought a new Lux and I am still having the exact same problem (see the new thread I started yesterday). What's crazy is that I have four other minis (original, Vox and Lux) and they all work perfectly. TiVo says that there needs to be some software adjustment and that can only be done by the escalation department and it will take 2-3 business days. The rep then said "I guarantee that this will fix your problem." This really makes no sense to me and now that I have read your post I'm wondering if there is something else going on at the TiVo side of things. I think there is - especially since there was a day last week when I all of my minis had intermittent connection issues for about a 2 hour period - which was not something I ever experienced before.

Hi, appreciate the responses.

I’m not sure where to find details on Moca strength. But since I’ve managed to manually connect to the tivo network on both devices I hope that means the connection is adequate.

I tried changing connection from moca to wireless to check if maybe the problem is with moca connection, but the roamio plus can still not be found. I also cannot connect to the roamio plus through my iOS tivo app.

to me it seems like the problem is with the roamio plus and thinking about getting one of the new edge devices.

Update:

I called tivo support and they told me there is an issue with the roamio multiroom streaming. They didn’t give me a reason for it, but it is apparently widespread and under investigation. Told me to give it 2-3 days to wait for an update from them via email.

I guess it is what it is, but this has been ongoing for a week.

I have just gone through the same thing with my old Roamio Plus which stopped allowing streaming to my Tivo Mini over ethernet last weekend.

They told me the same thing, that they are dealing with a lot of calls about this issue and it would take up to 3 business days to fix. Unfortunately, since mine went out on the weekend that meant it took 5 days. Anyway, streaming to my Tivo Mini started working today after a hard reboot of the Roamio and a manual network connection. So, they did fix it for me.

In another post I saw mention of the System Information, Tivo to Go setting. On the Roamio, the setting was "a,i,a,i" when it wasn't working and after the fix today it shows "a,i,a,a".

The support tech on the phone described the issue as the streaming software component of the Roamio system having been deleted and needing to be reloaded or re-enabled by their offline support team. I hope they can track down whatever caused this and prevent it from happening again.
