Has anyone had success merging tivo accounts?

My wife inadvertently created a new account when she ordered our Series 3 Tivo and I've tried several times now to get the accounts merged with no luck. My latest attempt involved a 20 minute support call with a Tivo rep and a transfer to another "special" support group that I disconnected after an hour and seventeen minutes on hold.

If anyone out there has managed to accomplish this, please let me know how you did it!
