Is anyone still watching this? I think they've announced this is the final season so hopefully they've figured out an explanation for the 828 phenomenon and are building towards that. Three episodes have aired so far and I'm still enjoying it, at least on par with previous seasons.

What do the rest of you think?

We're watching it as it comes out. I hadn't heard this was going to be the last season, but it does feel like a story that has a really limited story arc, and if they were on the bubble for two years, it's better to go out with a resolution then end unexpectedly with nothing.

I guess it hasn't been announced that this is the final season. Here's a article where the creator says he's got six seasons planned and he's known the answer to the mystery from the start. So if he's not BS'ing everyone, maybe that's a good sign.

The last episode gave me a headache. How many subplots were there? I couldn't remember who the parents were with Mick. And what was going on with Ben and some guy whose picture fell off the wall? Who cares about Grace and her brother? And there were story lines for Olive, the doctor, the NSA guy, the girl and swamp thing.

Too much.

I'm caught up now, but have forgotten many of the details of what happened last season(s). I do like what I've seen so far this season. I don't remember much about the Meth Heads, but all three seem to be important this season.

I'm still on board with this. I like it much better than "Duhbris".

At least the story moves along and the characters are more engaging. I forgot a lot about the previous seasons, but I was easily caught up as the episodes do give some back story.

I will say I wasn't surprised by anything that happened in this last episode. I knew the missing piece of the papyrus would be in the stuff that the new guy stole. I wasn't surprised when he stuffed it in the bag and ditched it in the nearest trash can where it will be found and returned to Ben.

At least the writers seem to know where they're going with this.

The one piece of last week's episode that made no sense to me was the papyrus. Who was the guy working in the antiquities lab? How did the girls get hooked up with him? What did the papyrus have to do with anything?

Yeah, but the Lost writers said the same thing and we know how that turned out.

And if you read the article, the series creator addressed that:
He explained that the "master arc of the series has existed from the beginning" and felt it was important to have a plan "because the audience in recent years has sometimes felt burned [when] mythology shows couldn't continue to pay off."

I've really enjoyed the season so far. Probably because there's been a lot less relationship drama with Michaela.

In the last episode, I was really confused about the papyrus. Olive is looking at it with greasy-haired college kid who seems to be in charge of that lab and its contents. Then suddenly, some random moving guys have completely cleaned out the lab and are trying to leave with the papyrus, and greasy-haired kid is nowhere to be found. I assume this is some nefarious plot to steal the papyrus because there's more info to be gleaned from it. But Olive tells the moving guys to leave it, and next time we see her, she's got the whole papyrus laid back out on the table like nothing ever happened, still no greasy-haired kid. So WTF was that whole drama about boxing it up and taking it away? Who ordered that? And why?

I agree this season has been better, there's still the mystery, but the story's progressing nicely.

I had the same confusion about the parchment Why was it being shipped off, and where was the expert student? I wasn't surprised at the missing piece showing up when it did however. That was telegraphed from the time it got stolen.

It took me a while to sus on to the fact that Angelina was Paige in the Americans. I thought she looked and sounded familiar then a quick IMDB check gave me the details.

I am concerned that seem to be dropping two episodes at the same time, almost like they're trying to burn them off and dump the show early. Does anyone know if it's been canceled?

I don't know about the status of the show for next season. I suspect NBC will make that announcement within the next week or two as this is upfront season. However, I think dropping double episodes probably has more to do with the calendar than anything. They likely brought the show back as quickly as they could, given COVID production delays, and now they're trying to get as many episodes aired before the end of the traditional TV season as possible. It will still end up running into June, but not as much as if they weren't doing double ups.

I agree with what you're saying. I'm just mystified by that logic at the networks. Like what's the rush to finish. Do we need to make sure the summer has the right amount of no new shows on or something. Or are they making space for all the filler game show/reality stuff for the summer. If Manifest were to run until July and then start again in September, what does it matter as long as production was done "on time" so the cast and crew got their time off?

I think it's more about network promotion cycles. There will be a big push to start promoting summer shows that will start after Memorial Day, so I think they'd prefer to promote new stuff that will lead in to more new stuff. Having an ongoing serialized show that really isn't going to draw in new viewers kind of wastes whatever promotion they will be doing for their summer slate.

Funny I KNEW that actress from somewhere and then finally realized where I had seen her (and then went to IMDB confirm).

I'm guessing that this will be it with Manifest, but I wonder if they have written a proper ending?
