LUX remote & Sony volume question

I have a new TiVo LUX remote (but I had the same concern with my VOX & Slide) and when I set it up to control my Sony TV I must press the volume control to increment one number at a time instead of simply holding the volume and watching the slider go up and down. My AppleTV worked correctly out of the box with no set up at all. I used to be able to hold down the volume button to raise and lower the volume with out tapping it 50 times. My TiVo is a Bolt+.

BTW, I tried every Sony code offered to set up the remote and none worked the way I wanted.

Any suggestions?
