Losing Encrypted Channels - Comcast

996 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  tjkrz
Last night Comcast came out to boost the signal for my neighborhood. After they left, I started having problems where the encrypted channels would go to the black screen. This is only a problem with the cablecards. My comcast STB continues to work fine.

I can go into the Cablecard Menu and Test the channels, and everything comes in normally. If I exit out and go to regular TV watching I can now receive all the channels, but after a couple hours it goes back to the black screen. I've gone through this cycle about 4 or 5 times now.

Any ideas?

Odds are it's signal related, since they just came in and messed with the signal.

1) If too low, you need a quality amp (one that cleans the signal while boosting it, not just overamping everything)

2) If to high (usually only the case with FIOS), you might need an attenuator (any cheap -4db or -7db splitter put in-line near the Tivo will do).

If anything, the signal is higher than it was. It was very very low until they came by last night. What would be considered high if I use the Tivo Cable Strength screen?
