"List" button for TiVo HD using an MX-500 remote

I'm looking for an M5 file for my MX-500 remote that will allow me to access the "Now Playing" list of my TiVo HD with a single button press. I know I can do this with a macro but prefer the remote code itself.

I've tried using the remote from the DirecTV TiVo with no success.

Has anyone successfully configured an MX-500 this way and would you be willing to share the secret?

I learned the Now Playing list command (before I gave it to a relative) from a Harmony remote.

You can probably program that command into a number of other cheap remotes and use them as a learning source.
So there is a separate command to get to the Now Playing list, other than the "toggle" option used by the TiVo button?
I have an MX-500 but never bothered. It's pretty easy just to press the Tivo button twice in quick succession as a good alternative. I would like to have a single button for standby mode however so maybe one day I'll look into that and add the List function while I'm at it. As mentioned above you can probably use one of the Radio Shack or similar cheap universal remotes to program these functions and then IR learn them to the MX-500.

Yes, there is a discrete "Now Playing" IR code. I like using it because I can program a macro to return to the recorded show I was just watching that works from almost anywhere.

Now Playing->Right Arrow->Right Arrow

The TiVo button toggle would do different things depending on what was the current context.

Yes. It's just not on the standard Tivo remote.

I have my Harmony "Menu" button set to bring up Now Playing list. The command is in the Harmony remote database so I didn't have to do anything special to use it.
Is this command sent out by the regular remote? I have a remote for my receiver that sends out different codes, even though it's only one button (it toggles through inputs). To teach another remote, I just toggle through it, and when I get to the code I need, I hit the "learn" button on the remote I'm teaching.

Would this work for the TiVo button too?
Here's a funny thing. I'm using the Tivo 2 remote in Slingbox client to control my Tivo Series 3. The "stdby" button on the remote behaves like the "List" button for my S3 - i.e. no matter where you are it always takes you to NPL. So, if you happen to have a Slingbox you can learn the "List" function to your MX-500 from the Slingbox IR blaster. ;)
If you are using an MX-500, the List command should be in the database. I think I got mine there, since, as noted above, the list command cannot be learned because it is not on the TiVo remote. Look there.

I'm using a MX-950 with my S3 and my S2 (and my Sony S1, but Sony put it on the original remote), and I use the list command all the time, so I must have gotten it there. Go into the device codes at the top, and find TiVo in the DVR category. You will find a list command there. The S2 set of commands works with the S3 as well.

As for the macro: "List - rt arrow - rt arrow," would not "List-play" do the same thing, only more elegantly?

Now that I have more devices, I hate toggle codes. Fortunately UCR (and others) have all the discrete codes available. (You should see all the discrete codes you can get for a Denon receiver.)
The "list" button on my HR10-250 remote goes directly to the "Now Playing" list on both my HR10-250 and my TiVo HD. The only problem I've (occasionally) encountered with the HR10-250 remote is the page up/down buttons when in grid guide; every once in a while they bring up the "info" page rather than scrolling.
you can pick up the radio shack 15-2142 for $10, using setup code VCR 0618 or SAT 1142. The advanced code for LIST is 00166 and the standby is 00152. To map them to keys on the RS remote:

1. device
2. press and hold P for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap P for one blink
5. enter 5 digit advanced code
6. pick a key

other advanced codes:

You have to add two zeroes to the front of each, when using the 15-2142.

I'm still awaiting a perfect answer (a working M5 file) but until then, I'm off to try building my own by trying some of these suggestions.

Thanks for all the responses!

BTW if you want a Slingbox remote that works properly with the S3 and allows multi-unit, I built the following slingbox device upgrade:

It is one IR function less for the macro (I actually use List-Play in the macro, even though my memory brings up List-Right-Right when I write it out), but from a manual usage standpoint (prior to adding the macro) I got used to using List-right-right because those buttons are closer together on my physical remote and also on slingbox my fingers are normally closer to the arrow buttons than the play keyboard shortcut.

Thanks for posting the advanced codes... saved me the trouble of finding them. The remote I used of all things was the one Cox gives us for their Motorola DVR which is an Atlas universal remote. I forgot to return it to Cox a long time ago after returning the DVR and it sure has come in handy. I used AUX/0618 device code and was able to get List (166) and Stdby (152) codes programmed in which I then promptly learned to my MX-500 and works like a charm. Thanks!

You're welcome. :)

Of course codes 0618 & 1142 are address zero. If you want advanced codes for tivo remote addresses 1-4, you need ofa remotes like the urc-6820, 8820, 10820, and 6690 each has setup codes for addreses 1-4.
Let's see if I got this right. You have a programmable remote with macro capability that you can set up to perform the function you want with a single button press but you'd rather get the code to download rather than program it yourself. That about cover it?

If you programmed the macro you'd have spent less time and energy and have a functional remote by now. Otherwise, why did you spend big bucks on a fancy remote with macro features if you don't plan on using them? I've got an MX-700 and I use macros whenever possible. It works great for any backdoor codes, such as the onscreen clock and 30-second skip.
Dear captain_video,

What part of my statement can you not comprehend?

"I know I can do this with a macro but prefer the remote code itself."

Dear Reinman,

I comprehend the statement just fine. What I don't comprehend is the rationale behind it. Instead of beating the bushes searching for an elusive code you can easily set up a macro to do the same thing using the codes you already have on hand. There is no advantage to having the unique code other than saving yourself a few extra seconds in programming the function into the remote.
The mx-500 only has the 3 M keys at the bottom of the remote and the device keys that can handle macros. The M keys are global, show up in all devices. Not like the mx-700 where you can put a macro on any key you want.
