Sadly, no. From time to time (usually with holiday deals) they will offer you a better offer on a new unit with lifetime for a lightly reduced price. On a brighter note, if you randomly upgrade to a new unit, you can sell your old one and the lifetime is transferable to the new owner.

If I purchase the lifetime service, is it transferable to a new Tivo if mine should crap out?

Thanks, Sam
You have to wait for a Tivo to offer their lifetime transfer deal, which in the recent past has been you buy a new box and pay and extra $100 to transfer your lifetime service from your old box to the new box. I have been using Tivos for a about 20 years and have transferred my lifetime service from a Series 2 to an HD to a Premiere to my current Bolt.

Lifetime Service is not for the lifetime of the owner, but is for the device itself. It cannot be transferred to another device, but if its sold, can be transferred to another owner.

Previous answers are generally correct. However, usually TiVo will transfer lifetime to a new box at a modest price or sometimes free as when there have been widespread problems with the Bolt. That could change with the new ownership.

If your box is replaced under warranty, Lifetime/All-In service will always be transferred at no cost (even if the warranty replacement was done by a third party, such as Best Buy). However, if TiVo offers a replacement box for an OUT-OF-WARRANTY unit, it has been a total crap shoot on how they handle the lifetime service - sometimes they have done it for free, sometimes they charge a moderate transfer fee, and other times they won't do it at all.

Now that the company has been sold again, I do not think anybody has a clue what we will see in the future.
