Oh, Survivorman, I tip my hat to thee.
Before the camera for all to see,
Refreshing sips of thine own pee,
Consumed by you on our TV.

I liked that episode, and was proud of myself for knowing he would be starting his fire using petroleum products from his jeep and sparks from the battery. I was surprized he found it worth it to distill a couple tablespoons of fresh water from wee-wee, but deep down, I think the man knows he's providing us a service and if a pee-still saves one life, his whole series is worth it. He is a bad-ass for doing this all while he had a cold.

I'm starting to think he really hates using bows and spindles to start fires, so he has his producers leave him something easier, but weirder to start fires. I was impressed that he did the chocolate on a soda can thing (after it was tested by mythbusters of course). I wonder if he will try that Anthony Hopkins riddle from The Edge. Fire from ice? I'd like to see 23 takes of that.

Compare how Les treated his urine (making it pure via the solar still) to how Bear supposedly did it in Man vs Wild in Australia. Bear just peed in his canteen and drank it straight. At least that's how it was shown. Now that we know much of Man vs Wild was fake, I suspect this part was as well.

Les is da man!

I was wondering the same thing. There must have been a reason Les didn't drink it straight. I wish they would have discussed that.

I did think the soda can thing was very cool.

I did wonder why he was trying to spear the birds rather than try to make some kind of net. I think that would have been much more successful.

They did. He mentioned that it was something like 92% water, but that the rest contained bad stuff that would "overtoxify" his blood.
Les also kept a blog that he updated while filming the shows. I thought it was pretty interesting read about many of the behind the scenes stuff they dont show us.

I think it's OK to drink Urine, but it might make you sick or something, just not deadly.

I guess it would probably be better than dehydrating, unless it made you sick and you couldn't accomplish anything else while you were sick.
