I know this has been asked before, maybe a few months ago....

Since I will probably make the switch to Comcast cable (so I can use their hi-def TiVo), what is the absolute cheapest package I can subscribe to in order to keep my OTA recording options?

Family $29.99/mo.

If you are going to Comcast, the TiVo Series3 does cable HD and OTA HD.

TiVo Series 3 doesn't do Switched Digital Video (or whatever that term is....) and Comcast is testing that 'solution' in some areas with an eye towards using it in more as they try to squeeze as many HD channels into their fairly limited bandwidth as possible.

Series 3 is a great solution for FiOS customers (or so I'm told by someone that has stated that many times in the past and raves about the service and the box), but I'd be careful buying one and setting myself up with a commitment period for that if I was thinking about leaving DirecTV, especially if I was going to be burning off some sort of commitment to DirecTV (or paying it off early).
See if you can get the $9.99 BASIC package. It's normally only provided with an international package but I have known it to be given to customers who don't want to suspend service but want to "test" another provider. You'd probably have to fight to get it but have seen it done.
