lba48 help

I upgraded my Philips 30 gb Series 1 (HDR312) with a 250 gb drive and it of course was limited to 137gb. Is there any way of upgrading the existing build to get the full capacity without doing a full upgrade? I've searched around and read that instant cake would be the easiest way. But i couldn't find any documentation on the dvrupgrade web site.
