I enjoyed this episode. I felt that it moved fast, and it seems that all the clues were right in front of the detectives.

My mom kept asking me "You can actually do that?" with regards to the whole video game.

This was on in the background... and it was stupid, stupid, stupid.

It reminds me of the old law & order days when someone would type on a keyboard, with no prompt, and a address would be returned in 45pt pink font on the screen, and nothing else.

Sure, people play the game at 800x600, and database admins prefer to look up usernames of players 16 at a time by the player face.

The game is also taking screenshots of everything, at all times.. ready to be reviewed at any time.

I see why they had to do a 'second life' episode.. but the dumbing down wa just really dumb.
So, this is moving ahead a week, but is next week's episode from last season or something? Mariska Hargitay's hair is completely different in the previews than it was in this episode.
I was amazed at how much the avatar looked like the girl in the picture, right down to the white shirt and pink ribbons in the pigtails. I was thinking that the guy had to have had something to do with creating the avatar, as opposed to just happening upon her inside the game.

Agreed. SVU is my favorite L&O, but I do wish "regular" shows would stay away from computer-based plots. It was just laughably silly.
