These are the options that need to be filled out on my router's port forwarding page.

Can anyone help me with what to fill out on this page. I know the ports that are needed are 80, 443, and 1413. But not sure what to do with that information.

All you need is to figure ports are may not be used.

For your settings:

I believe the application is for title for the operation.
Protocol, I believe is what device should it go to. May be a dropdown with a list of your devices.
Global port would be the port to use from outside of your network. This would re-direct traffic to the local port. Global is set for a range and you only need 1 port for each.

In this instance, a Global port : 150 - 150, Local port: 80
2nd setup: global 151 - 151, local: 443
3rd: Global 152 - 152, local: 1413

In KMTTG, you must manually add a Tivo tab: RemoteTivo (example title for Tivo name)
For the IP address, you must use your outside internet IP address. (Not something like 192.168.1.100)
Wan HTTP: 150
Wan HTTPS: 151
Wan RPC: 152

Click ADD button, then OK, restart KMTTG.

You would have a new Tivo tab in KMTTG, but it would not work unless you are outside of the network where the Tivo is.

I have done this and it works while my Tivo is still at my home network and I connect the laptop via my cell phone's hotspot. The remote Tivo tab works, but the local Tivo tabs doesn't. and vice versa when connected to the same network.

I think I understand most of your entire message. However, when you say “All you need is to figure ports are may not be used.” Do you mean that I need to see which ports are used and not used so I can use an unused port number as the global port range?

Also, when using the IP address in kmttg for the tivo, do I use my WAN router IP?

And lastly, how do I find out which ports are used and unused?

The most widely used are 80 and 443 and most are blocked from outside of the network, except for the browser.

You can use my example in the previous post, 150, 151, 152, for the respective port settings. (You can make up any port number, 11123, 22123, 123, 456, whatever would work.)

Port forwarding is like what it means, forwards traffic between the internet and what device its meant for.
Your WAN IP address may or may not be what you want.

go to whatismyip.com and what you want is the Public IP address. Your internal network would be the private network.

I was able to open up ports 80, 443 and 1413. But what I am unable to do is create and forward to the public ports such as 8080, 8443 and 81413 that I must enter into the kmttg config settings. Do I need to buy port forwarding software to do this?

I never opened those ports I used, just set them for KMTTG, for the Tivo access from outside network.
They need to be set for the right port to the device.
Using a port number like 81413 may be too high for your router to handle it. There may be a limit to how high they can be, but it can be unknown.

So as long as I have already set up the port forwarding on the router and the ports are open, I can create my own port numbers such as 5080 and 5443 to put into kmttg config settings?

As long as its setup to tell it what device on the network to go to and if properly set, it should work.

In my previous post, I used an example, 150 <-> 80, 151 <-> 443, 152 <->1413, they each set to point to the device (or its internal IP address (ie. 192.168.1.40)
For KMTTG, a Tivo set as (ie. External Roamio for title, External IP address on IP, HTTP = 150, HTTPS = 151, RPC = 152)

I don't believe there are software to open ports, I never did.

Are you trying to access your TiVo via KMTTG from outside your Network?

If you open those ports and forward them to the TiVo's IP and then use the Public IP of the Router to point KMTTG to it from across the Internet, I suppose it theoretically could work.

What happened to using the Laptop inside the Network?

I have done that and it works.

It would not be involved.

I have 2 tabs in KMTTG, 1 is just for the local Roamio, and the other is for remote Roamio access.

It’s working for me. And I have two last questions. I am going to add two more tivo bolts to my brother’s home and I will open ports 80, 443 and 1413 on the routers to both of the tivos.

My question is, will my KMTTG accessed remotely be able to distinguish the three tivos from one another?

And is there any way to increase the download speed from the 14mbps speed I’m getting?

You need to set up 3 more ports for each Tivo.
The speed you are getting is from the Tivo's CPU, PLUS the upload speed of Tivo's local internet, PLUS the download speed of the internet where you are downloading to.
