Does anyone know of a way to use kmttg Ad Cut on a file, modifying the .edl times?

I had downloaded a file using kmttg/Ad Skip/Ad Cut and got decent ad cut. However, I want to trim it up to make it cleaner. I have the existing EDL that kmttg generates and thought I could just modify the times by modifying the .edl file.

I have tried to run the "Ad Cut" job again from the "Files" section. However, when I try to modify the EDL file nothing happens to the resulting .ts file. I have cleared out the AutoSkip table. I've also tried modifying the config to use the AutoSkip padding. None of those have had any impact on my output file. It remains stubbornly the same.

Any advice is much appreciated!

No ad cut program is perfect and would only mark where there are fade-outs (2 sec black screen) as possible ad starts and ends.

Makes sense. I already have basic times for the cuts. I want to adjust them (manually) and re-run the kmttg program to pare the file down. Right now, kmttg produces the same output file no matter how I adjust the .edl file.

If you can edit down the video EDL by manually confirming in the actual video where they should be cut, updated the EDL, then you should not run AdDetect, just AdCut. Alternatively, you could go through the video itself and just cut out the portions unwanted and save as a newer file .MPG or .TS file.

Thanks, ThAbtO. I thought that I would be able to do that too. But I modified the EDL and didn't see any impact. Perhaps its reading some other EDL somehow.

Can you explain what it means "go through the video itself"? Is there some kind of simple program to use to do that? I have VLC and an install of ffmpeg. I'm a total newb at this. I normally just transfer stuff that doesn't have commercials. But these were too good to pass up.

Most of us Windows users use VideoReDo to edit the video and physically going through it and removing the unwanted content. Its not a Mac program though.

Kmttg reads the EDL only when it imports the cuts into its AutoSkip Table which you can view with "File->AutoSkip Table" menu item. After editing the EDL for a show, try right-clicking on the show and select "Import AutoSkip Cuts" from the popup context menu to import the revision.

Have you personally done this and confirmed that it works?
