Kevin Spacy to star in new TV show...that won't be seen on any channel.

Originally the show was offered to HBO. But they passed because they asked for a pilot episode and were apparently told "No." Also Spacey and his producer were looking for a commitment of at least two seasons for the show. When HBO (and anyone else) turned it down Netflix moved in. Which is funny because just a couple months ago the CEO said they had no intention of moving into the production business.

Hmm...I don't blame HBO. I think it's stupid for Netflix to buy two seasons of a show sight unseen. Spacey isn't that great I don't think.

On the other hand I think it's great that Netflix is taking some of their cash and doing some new development. I'll probably watch. It just seems to me they should be more prudent.

My understanding is that it is a remake or re-envisioning of the great BBC-PBS trilogy of mini-series "House of Cards" about the rise of Francis Urquhart (FU to his friends) to the pinnacle of power in Britain. The Spacey version will move it to America.

As FU would say,

I thought I read a couple days ago that Netflix might still buy Starz and offer it there?

Fond memories of that fantastic series. The Urquhart character is one of the greatest villains of all time. It's available on Netflix (although not for streaming) so I'll have to watch it again.

I thought the quote was "You may well say that..." Maybe he said it both ways.

Kevin Spacey might not be that great, but David Fincher is. He's running the show.

Is it streaming, DVD or both?

I know it is streaming. It would be nice to have it come out on DVD.

Pretty sure I read Netflix streams it first, then after a year or so it makes its way to other outlets (DVD, syndication, etc.).
