The only box in this scenario is my Premiere4. I was gonna live with just the RoamioPlus . I wanted to lower my monthly expenses . I just bumped up my Xfinity package and also added HBOmax and all that adds up; three Tivos and 3 cablecards is $55 alone.

This may be well known but...My Premiere which now has lifetime is very sluggish. Never mattered cuz I could always cancel. Now it is a little more important to me. I remember reading the hi def display is more taxing than the original or standard definition displays. Well, I switched and now this unit is snappy and satisfying. I searched on the sluggishness and dying hard drive was not listed as a cause. I wanna get at least a year out of that $99.

Some time has passed and I can gladly say this old Premiere has not skipped a beat since switching menus. I was worried about the hard drive because of the way it was acting. I am now confident this unit has some life left in it.

The Haxe rewrite made it significantly better, but the HD menus are still just a bit too much for the average Premiere to really keep up with. SD menus are the way to go if you don't really use streaming features. Now, I could only get the Series 3 style menus (with all the gaudy animations) into the Premiere, I'd be set.
