I just picked up a Maxtor 300GB Ultra16 PATA Internal Harddrive ($68 bucks free shipping at staples). I plan to use InstantCake software to load the software. What jumper settings do I use to set this up as a single drive? Just set it to Master?

Either cable select or master will work just fine. I always set mine to master when I install them in my PC and just leave them in that configuration for installation in the Tivo after restoring the backup image.
cable select will work if you don't have any other drives on your IDE chain, but just set it to master.
