If he'd been in Vegas I bet some casino would've given betting odds on a San Francisco earthquake occurring at a specific time on the same day. :)

All the TV show characters need to watch more TV because if they did, they'd know better than to hide things like running into your previous fiance and not telling your current wife about it.

It worked out well hoe Katie was filling in for Dan with getting the story he was working on. I wonder if they'll build on that in the future.

I really like this show.

Interesting that he can take things back and forth between the present and the past. Like the eco-terrorist printout he took to the past (and that it looks like he left in the phone booth! )
And Livia's watch that he brought back to the present with him. (Spoilerized because I'm not sure if that was revealed prior to the previews for next week. But wow! is he going to get in trouble for that!)
Wonder if he will use that for profit at some point? Actually I get the feeling that there are forces of some sort that restrict him from changing things too much. (Or maybe that's Livia's job?)

Re the watch: that was one of the major plot points of the show. Livia gives him her watch early in the show, then he's playing with it and slips it into his coat pocket then rips his coat off before he jumps the last time, then Katie finds it. He's already in big trouble! There's nothing spoiled about any of that... heck right about the time he read the inscription on the watch I already knew that Katie would find it and he'd get into trouble, after lying about meeting Livia in the past :).

He could have changed history probably. And livia was there intentionally to prevent that. I think her "mission" is to prevent him from changing things he's not supposed to.
It's not really clear yet that he can change anything he's not suppposed to -- at least anything with potential "butterfly" consequences.

If he'd succeeded in saving Hugh's sister, for instance, Hugh may not have stopped drinking, leading to who-knows-what by his likely absence from the paper. He also learned this after failing to change what happened to her, which may throw up a red flag to future attempts to do things like that.

For a minute there, I thought he may have changed something with Hugh's sister. Maybe instead of going back to work that day, she went to confront her brother about the psycho he sent to her. When they showed Hugh at the end sitting at the bar I was sure something had to have changed...guess not.

The watch thing was MAJOR foreshadowing. We all saw it coming. In fact, I was yelling at him to NOT take the watch from her to begin with because I knew he'd get caught.

I like how his wife helped him with his major story. But I get a feeling that she may get a taste at reporting again and want to go back to her career.

Also, if I know there's a major earthquake about to strike and I'm crazy enough to start calling people to warn them...how hard is it go go: Yeah, I'm with the San Fransisco Geological Board or whatever.

I was thrown a little by the "saving the gambler" thing. When they showed the number of people dead on the newspaper headline, I thought the twist was going to be that he needed to save Charlotte by placing Alan in harm's way. That way the same number of people would die, but this time it would be a degenerate and not a good person. Since I'd seen the previews of that round-corner house falling down, and that's where the poker game was, I thought it was a pretty sound theory.

Guess I was wrong. But I'm glad this show isn't totally predictable.

Can he journey if someone is watching him? Why is his dead fiance always showing up where he is? Is she journeying while she was still alive?

I liked seeing all the scenes at POFA since my brother and his wife got married there.

I hope NBC gives this show a fair shot, its going up against the Bachelor and CSI: Miami. Looks like the ratings dropped again this week. :(
I saw a yahoo article where they listed this as the 3rd most likely show to be cancelled. Cavemen or whatever was #1.

That sucks, because I really like the show as well.

She's said that she used to jump before she met him, but it had stopped while they were together. This poses an interesting question: Is Livia 'homeless'? Is she constantly jumping as opposed to Dan, who always returns home? Or is she in fact alive and well in Dan's present, but has been avoiding him for the past 7 years after her 'death'?

Is it just me, or where there some Rome jokes made? That spot he always woke up in with the columns looked vaguely Roman, and the B-52s were playing 'Roam', when he first jumped in this episode.

I really like the show. I hope it survives.

If the series survives (I hope it does - I like it more than expected), I'll be interested to see if and how they'd explain this. There's some force/being/whatever with the power to send Dan back in time, and keep him from changing anything he's not supposed to, but the power can't just change the past event themselves? I'll need to think about that one for a bit...

I have the impression she was already a lawyer when she met Dan -- was she jumping while she was in law school? Was she jumping while working as a lawyer? Seems like it would be hard to deal with that kind of thing (a little bit hard to explain if you suddenly disappear in the middle of court), although maybe she learned to "control" it to some extent.
