The show's staying true to form though... nothing's much clearer after this episode was over than it was before it began. It's just fun to watch.![]()
I actually was thinking there was enough conversation to believe we got proof it was a two-way conversation with the bird. Though maybe Bill was just repeating out loud what he heard, not answering, so the bird might've been talking to someone else.drew2k said:I think we did get proof in this episode that Bill is talking to his bird, and not a mystery dead/alive/ailing wife upstairs.
But was the bird talking ... or just conveying?dswallow said:I actually was thinking there was enough conversation to believe we got proof it was a two-way conversation with the bird. I recall that Butchie's real name is Mitch Jr.TAsunder said:Such as something possibly about butchie's real name being shaun??
You must have been distracted:TAsunder said:I don't know that she overplayed it. Seemed like Cissy is really close to a total nervous breakdown because of all that has happened, especially to Shaun.
I need to watch the episode again, there was a lot of dialogue that I just didn't understand. Such as something possibly about butchie's real name being shaun?? And I didn't get the oozing leg conversation with the vet, other than that he had to watch a lot of his army mates die because he was unable to save them.
That's what I was thinking, but I don't know what Mitch and Cissy's reluctance to call Shaun "Shaun" has to do with the aerials. I'm just confused by Linc's segue way from one thing to the other. It's what prompted me to turn on CC because I thought maybe I missed a word or two in there.TAsunder said:I think it was actual Aerials, which are apparently a more recent phenomenon in surfing. He would do them when it was not considered proper surfing technique, apparently. Which would also maybe explain why he is still revered, if he popularized aerials.
I don't think there was necessarily a direct link between the two.johnperkins21 said:That's what I was thinking, but I don't know what Mitch and Cissy's reluctance to call Shaun "Shaun" has to do with the aerials. From the HBO summary of Episode 3:TAsunder said:I think it was actual Aerials, which are apparently a more recent phenomenon in surfing. Dead on.Fahtrim said:* He was in the Army infantry. He paused to check his foot because it was injured. Due to his pausing to check his foot, he wasn't killed when the rest of his buddies were.
That was my take, I could be wrong.
