Here's my setup...
2 Tivo's. Both are Model TCD540040. (Both start with 540 for their TSN's)

Both are wireless.

One in bedroom. - using Netgear WG111
One in living room. - using Netgear MA111 (version 1, by the way)

I have a Linksys Router - compact wireless G - WRT54GC

I have a Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem - Model SB5120

I have had TiVo for two years at my current location and have never been able to get transfers to work. They will work back home at another location.

I have a decent signal percentage 60 to 70 or higher on each TiVo. And, both TiVos see each other and can transfer between each other.

I do use a WEP key, and just upgraded it. It is 26 characters long right now.

I can't figure this out and it's been bugging me for so long.

Sorry... after all the background, I guess I forgot to ask what I wanted to...

The TiVos don't stay connected all the time.

The bedroom tivo loses its connection more often than the living room one. When they are connected, though... I can transfer between the two.

In the two years, I have never succeeded in transferring a show to my computer using TiVo desktop. I can see the shows, but the transfer gets interrupted for some reason. That happens when i transfer from either of my tivos to my laptop.

Change the channel on your router, most people don't do that so all routers are on the same factory set channel. If you do not live near anybody or have any portable phones than my advice will not work for you.

Thanks for the advice. I tried that and it worked for my Nintendo Wii, but it didn't do anything to help my TiVo. (I made sure that all devices were set to the same channel that I changed my router to...)

Any other ideas?

Check this link for the official TiVo page regarding wireless adapters.

Make sure the WG111 and MA111 (v.1) that you are using have a "Thumbs Up". It seems, based on the list, there are multiple WG111 versions - some work and some do not. Check the serial number information that is listed as well.

Also, a green check mark indicates the adapter is "reported" to work, but it has never been tested by TiVo, therefore your specific setup may not work.

You may want to try a TiVo branded adapter from a store with a good return policy to see if that helps. Otherwise, it may be interference as lessd said.
