I own a TiVo Roamio OTA 1TB with a cable card (and FiOS). I just picked up a brand-new TiVo Stream from Weaknees (great experience) and have it running.

I'm not wondering if this is the best experience for streaming TiVo content or would the experience be more robust and/or reliable with another approach? Perhaps a TiVo with built-in streaming or some other device/approach?

In my partial first night of testing, I found the TiVo app to be very unreliable with streaming (continual stuttering even though my bandwidth is solid) and the online portal is better, but I'm unable to pause and then resume. If I pause, it just won't come back. I also am disappointed to find that streaming in no way seems to keep any sort of bookmark of where I left off. If I do have a problem and have to restart, I have to start over at the beginning.

What's your definition and requirement for streaming?

If it's just inside the home the best streaming experience is via Mini Vox.

This naming convention is going to get confusing. (TiVo's new Android TV device is called the TiVo Stream 4K)

The TiVo Stream you're referring to is the only way to get a Roamio OTA to stream outside the home. If you want something built in then you need to jump up to the Bolt. I haven't done extensive testing though to know for sure if the internal stream on the Bolt is better than the external one. I've used both a couple of times and had similar hit and miss performance with both. Although I haven't used it in a while, so it's possible they made improvements to the Bolt and I haven't had a chance to use them.
