It is currently Thursday May 28th and I have not been able to play anything for a couple days on either of my Tivos using the Tivo Online web site. The two Tivos can see each other and play each other's recordings. But on Tivo Online I just get the spinny disk. If you wait long enough it says something about not being able to reach my Tivo. Which is not true because I can schedule recordings vie Tivo online that actually record.

I'm using Chrome on Windows 10. Same thing if I try Firefox. If I try Edge, it says "unsupported browser (which is odd because Tivo's own web site says it is supported).

Just wondering if it is me or Tivo before I call them and subject myself to that torture.

When it "failed to play" what exactly were the symptoms? Did you get the spinny circle and did it eventually give up and say it could not contact your Tivo?

I tried just now to play a title from the Bolt (on the same network as my laptop) and got the following:

Problem Playing Show
We are unable to detect your TiVo streaming device from this location. If you are currently away from home, streaming video is not supported at this time.

Again, I'm at home and the Tivo is on the same network as my laptop. This used to work. I also tried it on my desktop to rule out the laptop setup and got the same result. I guess I'll have to call Tivo and go through the reboot everything and force connections on everything routine. And lately, you have to do all that while on the phone because it is in their script. You can't do it before you call and say that you have done it.

EDIT: If the mother ship can't actually communicate with my Tivo, it does not even present the NPL. I tried it while the Tivo was re-booting. So when you get the spinny circle, streaming is not working but you could not get that far if the mothership really could not communicate. And strange as it may seem, after the reboot Tivo online is working again. So something was stuck on the Bolt.

Then I rebooted the Roamio and when I came back downstairs to the Bolt, I found it was just finishing up ANOTHER boot. ??? After the Roamio finished rebooting, Tivo Online can see it but still cannot play any titles.

EDIT #2: Oh, it just occurred to me that Tivo online streaming does not work with a Roamio, right? Because it is not considered a "streaming device" like the Bolt is? Too bad the Tivo Online site does not say that when streaming will not start. It just spins forever.

I was in-house streaming from a Roamio on TE3. Yes, it was a BSC.

Works with a TE4 Roamio host also.
Have you ever been able to stream from a Roamio on Tivo Online? I seem to recall now that I think on it that streaming from a Roamio is not supported. Only from Bolt and higher?

So in my case, the Bolt was stuck and the Roamio would never have worked. And Tivo Online was probably not actually down.

I don't own a Bolt. Only basic Roamio boxes. I am using an external Stream.

Roamio Plus and Pro models have a built-in Stream for streaming. The other Roamio models don't.

I used it about an hour ago and it was fine. Roamio to Roamio.
Different networks? That shouldn't work as the TiVo's need to be on the same network (doing it online just triggers the same kind of TiVo to TiVo copy that you would do locally).

Hi Scott, thanks for the reply. Guess I'm a bit confused by this - (doing it online just triggers the same kind of TiVo to TiVo copy that you would do locally). On Tivo Online, I'm selecting the show I want to transfer (which is on a bolt at my 2nd home), then the selecting a bolt (that is located at my 1st home) as the 'transfer to'. Are you saying online transfer will only work in-home?

Correct, it will only work on TiVo's that are on the same network.
