some, but Occam's is about choosing between 2 hypotheses/explanations (thus the "Razor")... that's not really the case here.Uncle Briggs said:They have some similarities.![]()
Personally I have found that the 2 biggest causes of accidental channel changes are fat fingers (getting more than 1 key) or just not thinking about what you want to do before you actually do it. To minimize this I just put the remote down somewhere that I have to reach for the remote by actually moving my whole body slightly, not right where you can get to it and start pressing buttons quickly (not in your lap or in your hand). It takes an extra second or so to locate and grab the remote and it is just long enough to allow you to think about what you are going to do.BTUx9 said:some, but Occam's is about choosing between 2 hypotheses/explanations (thus the "Razor")... that's not really the case here.
And, to support the OP, I agree completely... it's very annoying to be in the live buffer and lose it because of an accidental keypress. Luckily, it doesn't happen to me very often, because I watch VERY little live TV, but the few times it HAS happened, I wasn't very happy.
Unfortunately, I know of no way to accomplish this other than a brute force application of routerplus... way beyond what's easily doable (may not even be possible with the current knowledge base)
It's too bad tivo doesn't prompt under those circumstances (I believe it'd be almost trivial, programmatically, to accomplish this within tivoapp... just an extension of the prompt when changing channels to start a recording).
Argh BTUx9! You got me! I recently read an article on how to act smart, but you foiled my plans.... unless...BTUx9 said:not sure, but I believe you're confusing Occam's Razor with K.I.S.S.
Talk about quantum physics, politics, and use words such as 'superfluous' and 'ostracize.' Make sure that you consult a dictionary or encyclopedia in order to really understand the words, otherwise you'll appear merely ignorant.
