Is there a way, or a remote code, that you can eneter so the channel won't change when you are watching tv 15 minutes behind the live feed? I seem to always hit the channel button and lose the program I am watching.

Thanks

They have some similarities. ;)
some, but Occam's is about choosing between 2 hypotheses/explanations (thus the "Razor")... that's not really the case here.

And, to support the OP, I agree completely... it's very annoying to be in the live buffer and lose it because of an accidental keypress. Luckily, it doesn't happen to me very often, because I watch VERY little live TV, but the few times it HAS happened, I wasn't very happy.

Unfortunately, I know of no way to accomplish this other than a brute force application of routerplus... way beyond what's easily doable (may not even be possible with the current knowledge base)

It's too bad tivo doesn't prompt under those circumstances (I believe it'd be almost trivial, programmatically, to accomplish this within tivoapp... just an extension of the prompt when changing channels to start a recording).

Personally I have found that the 2 biggest causes of accidental channel changes are fat fingers (getting more than 1 key) or just not thinking about what you want to do before you actually do it. To minimize this I just put the remote down somewhere that I have to reach for the remote by actually moving my whole body slightly, not right where you can get to it and start pressing buttons quickly (not in your lap or in your hand). It takes an extra second or so to locate and grab the remote and it is just long enough to allow you to think about what you are going to do.

It happens to me most often when I try to hit the replay (8 sec rewind) button and hit the 1 instead after I have used the 30 second skip button several times to go through commercials and went a little bit too far. I've gotten pretty fast at finding the "clear" button and hitting that before the channel actually changes.

not sure, but I believe you're confusing Occam's Razor with K.I.S.S.
Argh BTUx9! You got me! I recently read an article on how to act smart, but you foiled my plans.... unless...

I'm reminded of something Albert Einstein once said, "everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler." but nevermind, that's not important. This situation just reminded me of that quote.

For a good laugh (and see what I'm talking about), read this:

But I digress. The only thing I watch live is sports, and whenever I am watching an event, I always record it for this very reason.

Good luck with that... sincerely... too many people "dumb down" the way they talk

Occam's Razor is a good one to use, but as #3 says:
Talk about quantum physics, politics, and use words such as 'superfluous' and 'ostracize.' Make sure that you consult a dictionary or encyclopedia in order to really understand the words, otherwise you'll appear merely ignorant.
