I've used tivo since series 1 and currently have a bunch of mini's and a Romaio with a cable card. Lately I've been wondering if it's possible to continue using Tivo but as a streaming only device. No longer having to buy a TV package from Verizon.

I'm envisioning the following:

Some sort of streaming package (hulu live)?
HBO Now?
Showtime?

I'd basically like the same channel line-up (minus probably half the channels I never watch from FIOS) + HBO & Showtime.

I'd want to see it presented in Tivo just as it is coming from verizon fios today.

I'm assuming this does NOT exist in any form, but thought I'd ask in case it is or is possibly something Tivo is working on. Thanks,

You are correct it does not exist unless you count the new TiVo streaming stick, I think it aggregates recordings from Sling alongside streaming services. There are quite a few posts about it here and articles online.

Oh I didn't realize there was BT standard for remotes. I assumed they all sort of used their own proprietary standard and that something like a Harmony would never work even if it had BT.
Rokus have IR capability as well as RF, just like TiVos. One's Harmony controls a Roku (or TiVo) using IR. Even the Apple TV can be controlled with IR.

I don't know of any case where a device's RF interface is used by a foreign remote; it there is I'd like to hear about it.

Fire stick is BT and wifi, no built in IR capability whatsoever. Harmony hub and many boutique and software based remotes can control it (Roomie, Crestron, Allonis, etc.).

UEI's Xsight RF universal remote could control older DirecTV DVRs (HR20 series) via RF as well as control several home automation systems directly via RF and Zigbee.

Harmony hub remotes control many devices directly via RF (home automation, air conditioners, etc.).
