My series 1 tivo will not responding to the remote (brand new batteries), and when I unplug it & plug it back in, the green (receiving) lights comes on but I do not see the tivo rebooting. (TV & TIVO both on channel 3)
Dead... the Hard Drive probably is gone.
You can try to replace the hard drive... but the cost of the hard drive, plus getting a image for it... will be more expensive then replacing it.
