Have a romiao with a lifetime subscription. Swapped the bad hard drive with one pictured below, saw on here this is plug and play. Once installed and turn it back on all I get is the initial power up welcome screen. Cycles that screen over and over

you can try kickstart codes to see if hard disk is working...

TiVo Kickstart Codes and Information

you may have to remove and zero the disk if the tivo started to format
the disk and then you stopped..... zeroing the first few sectors should
force it to try and reformat the disk.

I think formatting takes a while.

How did you know it was a hard drive problem? Did you test it? A bad power supply could have similar problems if it cannot provide enough current for the drive.

no clue how to even attempt to zero harddrive

I did use power cord from TiVo bolt to see if that was issue and still on the same home screen. Assumed was hard drive as suddenly stopped working all of a sudden one day

I would double check that both PS have the same amperage (bolt *could* be lower as it has a smaller drive and is more efficient) . Then, check the drives in a pc, not the smart tests, but the actual mfr ones. You could have gotten a bad replacement drive, it happens.

How do I check on a Mac? I am not very computer savvy when comes to hardware.
Both supplies did have same input,output printed on the plug

No idea how to do the hard drive test....
Tried the codes with kickstart and the two lights on left side in front blink alternating orange / green back....restarts and gets stuck on the screen with pic attached. Can hear hard drive on with cover off

Hooked hard drive to laptop....runs, erased the nothing that was on there and still stuck on welcome screen.

Any ideas or suggestions?

have no tivo currently, bought hard drive and don’t want to have wasted the $$ on it

Got a second brand new hard drive and TiVo keeps doing the same thing as with the other

so going assume something else is bad inside the TiVo besides the hard drive?

Haven’t been able to get any kickstart to work....get stuck on the black initial start screen. Runs for about a minute and then reboots itself over and over
Second brand new hard drive, same results. Left it plugged in for the night to see what, if anything happens

You can probably talk TiVo in to swapping it, maybe for somewhere around the price of a large hard drive. It's likely to be a Bolt, though...

I've done it more than once.

They pre-swapped a Roamio for me last week before it had ever been activated, no charge, because the HDMI Port was dead.

tossed old hard drive already so I wonder if they will notice the newer one inside of it or just put one in from an old premerie that was month to month but not used anymore

Maybe a 'silly' question but would the Roamio OTA actually accept 3TB for upgrades in the DIY fashion the Plus would? OP mentioned using a Bolt cord so I assume it must be an OTA and not a plus!

is NOT an OTA Roamio. . . an older roamio with the cable card. is a model: TCD846500 (aug 2013)

even went as far as swapping the tiny round internal battery thinking maybe that would have an effect
