I have had problems off and on with My Roamio disconnecting from my router. When it happens, it happens when the is Roamio displaying from a streaming service. If you log on to the router and look at the connected devices, you find that neither the Roamio nor its built-in wireless adapter are connected. A reboot of either the router or the Roamio re-establishes the connections. After doing a little research, I concluded that the Roamio (mine at least) was probably manufactured before the 5G standards were frozen. While it will connect at 5G, the connection might last a month, a week, a day, an hour, or minutes. The bottom line is that my Roamio (and I'm sure others) does not establish a stable 5G connection. Heavy traffic between the Roamio and the router seems to make the problem worse. One solution is, of course, not to use wireless. Yes, this is a solution, but for many users it is far from practical. One of the reasons I purchased my Roamio is because it has a built-in wireless interface ... therefore, I should be able to use wireless. My two previous routers maxed out at 3G so I never had the problem. After a thunderstorm knocked out my last wireless router, I replaced it with a NetGear router capable of running at 5G. It was then that my problems began. After fighting with it for a while, I connected my Roamio to the 3G band of my new router. Haven't had any problems since. So ... if your Roamio is having problems connecting (or staying connected) to your router (or any other wireless device on your network) at 5G, try connecting everything at 3G.

Interesting. Is your Roamio relatively far away from your router? Or not in line-of-sight? 5GHz has a shorter range and is less able to penetrate walls than 2.4GHz.

I've never used wireless with my Roamio Plus. It's two feet away from my router.

3G, 5G those are cellular terms. Do you mean 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz? Use the 2.4 GHz band. It is fast enough and more stable.
