HR20 versus HR10

After five days I have a handle on the HR20 versus the 10-250. I miss Tivo software. I never liked the DirecTv guide grid but that's all that is available. I miss dual buffers and season pass type recording is not as good. Both receivers suffer from bugs. The 20s menu is much faster than the HR10 and it is nice to have a picture while working with the menu. One touch recording is faster with the 20. The 20s OTA tuners seem to provide a better picture but I did not do a side by side comparison. Overall, while I prefer a Tivo based machine the 20 is not the disaster that many believe it to be. It is far from perfect but has potential if they continue with regular software upgrades.

I got one a month or 2 ago, and I can say without a doubt that it is not as bad, but the Search feature is horrible compared to the Tivo WishList.
thanks for the comparison! Very useful. A good review has been a long time coming. Just switched myself two months ago.

thanks also, I just switched too, I miss the tivo menu lots. will season passes still record on the HR20 when the unit is off? I notice this one gives off more heat than the hr10.

Unless you want to record children's shows or Court TV! DBSTalk has more info on problems on short recordings.
