About once a week, my HR10 first slows down responding to my remote and then after a while stops responding at all to either the remote or the front panel buttons.

The only solution I have found is to pull the power card and force a reboot.

I realize this could be an indication of hard disk problems, but it only started happening after upgrading to 6.3d.

Interestingly enough, even while the above problem is happening, any shows recording at that time still seem to play fine after the reboot.

There seems to be a difference of opinion about whether 6.3d is actually the culprit. Many, like me, think it is. Others vocally dispute that. I honestly don't think anyone knows for sure.

I do know that I suffered no slowdowns, lockups or reboots until that version was downloaded. Go figure.

Actually, I've had a similar problem since 6.3a. It was brought up in other posts sometime back, but it appears that the system will lock up on OTA channels. In my case, I have 2 HR10-250 units. The one downstairs will play channel 20-1, but after awhile, the remote doesn't respond, nor do the buttons on the front of the unit. The weird thing is that the unit upstairs has no problem at all. I'm luckly in that channel 20-1 used to the UPN network, so I don't really watch it much, except for Colorado Rockies baseball games.

When this thread was brought up before, other people around the country were having the same problems, but on major network channels (I belive ABC in Philadelphia was what started the thread).

At any rate, you may want to test out your OTA channels by keeping the channel tuned to it for awhile - this might be your problem.

That's the same thing that happened to me after the 6.3d update and why I had an HR20 sent to me and regulated this to the master bedroom. It got the the point that I was getting to be nearly everyday.
I put in a larger HDD and 6.3 from InstantCake and all seems to be ok, for now. I keep it unplugged form the phone line.

The HR20 is better fro me right now, so this stays in the bedroom. Once I get another HR20 for the MB, the HR10-250 with join the HR20 for OTA and SD stuff for the kids and back-up for the wife and I.

I had the same issues whether it's OTA, SD or HD.

Same issue here about a month or so ago. It's only happened once since 6.3d. No other previous issues. ( Well my HDMI went south but that a horse of a different color. ;) )

At least it is nice to know I am not alone.

I am thinking about contacting the InstantCake folks and asking whether the 6.3c version is still available.

Of course I can always use my original InstantCake disk and return to 3.1.5f.
