HR10-250 problem

I have a 2 year-old HR10-250. About 1 year ago, I upgraded it to 2 Seagate 500GB drives. Up until a couple of months ago it worked beautifully.

The first problem I had was that, when watching a program on delay (not recorded, just delayed by a few minutes), it would skip to the end of the buffer. This was frustrating, as I usually watch with at least some buffer. Interestingly, this was a playback problem, not a recording problem, because if I recorded a program, I could play it back from the Now Playing menu with no problem.

The next problem was what I believe is commonly referred to as "stuttering." While watching live TV, the audio and video will periodically be interrupted for short periods of time, then resume. It varies from an occasional annoyance to so frequent as to be unwatchable. Again, though, this only occurs on live TV, not a playback frm the Now Playing menu.

The third problem has cropped up in the past 2 weeks, which is the rebooting problem. It's happened perhaps 10 times in 2 weeks. Interestingly, after a reboot, I get a message #81: "Your DVR service is not active," even though the service has not been interrupted.

In perusing the forums, I have not seen a thread on this exact set of problems, but the consensus seems to be that stuttering and rebooting are signs of impending hard drive failure. I ran the Seagate SeaTools utility on both drives, and they both passed. Does this mean the problem is a software problem and not a physical hard drive problem?

Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated.

What do they say in the forum for that model?

I believe the folks on that forum will say that those symptoms indicate a failing hard drive.
Yes, I agree that the consensus is that those symptoms indicate hard drive failure; however, I've run the Seagate diagnostics on both drives and no problems were discovered. Should I assume one or both drives are bad anyway, or are there software issues that could be the cause?
wasn't there an earlier discussion that there is a known power supply issue when trying to use two Seagate drives in a series 2 based machine? i think i recall that, maybe that is giving you intermittent disk stuttering issues.
UPDATE: After doing some more research on the forums, I came across the "access card" problem. Following the advice of someone with a similar problem, I tuned the unit to an OTA channel and confirmed the stuttering. I then removed the access card, and the stuttering immediately ceased. Trying to figure out if the problem was with the card or the card reader, I put a different access card in the unit, and the problem came back. Thus, I conclude the problem is with the card reader.

Now the problem is: can the card reader be fixed? Does anyone have any thoughts?
