So, my HR10-250 is connected all the time and updates every day, but I am still stuck on 3.1.5f version. I would like to know how to get it to update to 6.x that many of you are discussing in here. I'd like to get folders, etc. some time this century finally.

Thanks for any help you can provide to my ancient Tivo. BTW, I recently got a postcard from D* saying that in "early 2008" there would be further updates for my Tivo. But...I am hoping I can get at least 6.x now.

Thanks again.

Hmm, I will try a different phone line today, but i also wanted to mention that I have the PTVnet upgrade drive, have had it for about 2 years or more for this device. I believe that it has updated the software though in the past, but not sure if this time around its different for people that had bought a pre-built PTVnet drive in the past. I think there may be a "flag" to configure no updates to occur, but the default is that they will, and I've never changed that whatever the case.

Thoughts guys?

Aright, this is drivin me nuts...I have confirmed the phone line is fine, I have confirmed that my PTVnet drive is set to allow new updates now, and I have succesfully dialed in to the local DirecTV number like 8 times. It succesfully connects and downloads data, everything works with the connection, but I never see any new version, still stuck on 3.1.5f...the speed on this thing is horrible, not to mention I'd like to get the damn folders, etc. Is there some trick to getting this thing to upgrade???

Please help guys, this thing's about to go thru the window over here.

Thanks.

How do you know that the system is set to accept updates? You don't really know what's on that disk do you? That's the problem when you simply install a package or script of hacks.

Most likely, the boot parameters are still set to disable upgrades. I suggest that you ask for help in the PTVnet forum.

Well, I have a thread going over at PTVnet on it, but to answer your question, I know its set to take updates because the update flag confirms that it is set to accept, and also because one of the main guys over there Lou told me it should just dial in and get it now. He says it will just totally overwrite the PTVnet kit drive, and lay down the fresh version. Of course, I'll lose the ptvnet functions, but at this point, I don't care, I just want the faster performance and foldering, and the ability for future updates as DTV has announced they will be doing in Q1 of 2008.

Thanks for the response though man, I totally appreciate any ideas on this one...
