I moved the HR-10 to the bedroom after getting an HR20 for the living room. Bedroom only has one satellite cable. I didn't care as I had been using a stand alone Tivo to control the sat box and one tuner was fine for the bedroom. I redid guided setup for the HR-10 to establish that there was now only one satellite in connected to sat 1 input and no OTA. But it will still try to use sat input 2 to record shows. And if I change channels sometimes it will work, sometimes it will go to the blank input. Anyone know a work around? I don't understand why it's doing this when it should "know" that there is no input on sat 2 after redoing guided setup.

I've thought about this issue as a possible future situation with my HR10. Specifically, I would want to be able to record OTA on both tuners if need be.

Here's what I'm thinking of: Split the single sat line (let me finish :)) with a splitter that allows power passing on one leg only, and tell the machine there's two sat inputs. Then, promptly remove ALL DirecTV channels from the "Channels You Receive" list, leaving only OTA.

In this configuration, the only time it should ever even BE on any sat channel would be either channel 201 or one of the "service download" channels, and that should be one tuner only. The "no DirecTV channels" deal should resolve the issue introduced with the splitter.

You don't need to physically connect two lines to get the two tuners to work.

Leave one connected and when you go through setup, it will error out on the second line. There is an option to ignore the error (something along the lines of "I will fix it later").

With a single line, you can force Tuner 1 into satellite for live TV tuning. With two lines you cannot force a tuner as they may conflict with each other on transponder selection.

BTW, I have tricked my HR10 into recording on satellite by doing one as an automatic recording and the other as a manual for the same show. Delete the blank one.
