How many HD games on CBS & Fox?

989 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  rhoops
I was just looking at http://www.hdsportsguide.com/ and noticed that CBS is going to have 5 HD games opening weekend! I had not heard that they were going to do more than the measly 3 HD games per week that they had done the last couple years.

So has anyone heard how many games CBS & FOX is doing in HD each week this year?

Thanks,
Rob

I believe Fox does all of their games in HD and CBS will do 5/week so if they have more the least nationally interesting games will be SD.
Fox may wind up with one SD game a week on heavy weeks, like last year. They would give widescreen SD to the local markets when that happened.

CBS is saying "up to 6 games a week in HD" this year. The first two weeks showed up as five.
You have to watch out for Fox Widescreen, alot of people think it looks like crapy HD, but it isn't HD at all.

As for CBS, yes they made the announcement back in may that 5 or 6 games a week would get the HD treatment and all of the games by 2008.

Not sure about this year but in previous year's, FOX would carry up to 6 games each week in HD. That usually covered all their games but some weeks they carry 7 or even 8 games in which case 1 or 2 would not be in HD.

FOX owns 6 HD trucks (or did last year, they may have more now). That means that if none break down significantly, or the game can be traveled to in time, or if they can't get a deal on a local SD truck and production company to save a buck, there will be up to 6 games in HD on any particular day.

This is a better state of affairs than MLB in 2006, when FOX would carry a game in SD from an HD truck, simply because the machine that keys the advertising into the ballpark greenscreen was SD.
