I got into the too many messages trap and had to do a clear and delete everything on my R10. but dang it's been 1:45 and it's still working.

i didn't have too many shows in the NP list, or that many season passes <15 if i recall, since it's the non-primary unit. it's a 70hr... how long is it supposed to take???

ok apparently it takes almost 2 hours!! oy. i won't delete this thread in case somebody searches for this same question in the future :)
Actually, it can take several hours to complete a C&D. Just because yours took about two hours doesn't mean that the next person's won't take three or four or more to complete.

Just a heads up for someone who's been waiting three hours and is starting to panic!
Of course if you never try to go to the messages screen, it won't lock up on you :)
Or, if you clear the messages periodically.
Monthly should do it.
6.3e won't even let you go to the messages area if you have too many.

Problem solved.

true... this was more of a reply to the on screen message that says it may take "up to an hour". Um, yea, more like, at least an hour... :)
My SIR S4120R ran "clearing and Deleteing..." for 30+ hours. DIrect TV and Samsung both told me it's toast. But Being a Computer geek; I just can't accept that. It's a harddrive and a Motherboard. therefore it's fixable. But I'm sort of clueless where to start; as I've never looked into hacking it.

Wow! over 30 hours?! Yikes...
I think out would have been easier to use InstantCake and reburn the drive from scratch. Since it's a fresh image of the OS, all other stuff is removed.

Is there a benefit to using C&D instead of just reimaging the drive?
