Robin's a *****.

More broadly, it's just so frustrating that they're Ross and Rachel-ing this show. They used to be so good at setting up and delivering on the season-long arcs, but the last two (Jennifer Morrison and now) have failed spectacularly. The writers played fast and loose with the Barney/Robin relationship the first time and killed it, and now they're just screwing around needlessly.

I've actually enjoyed Kal Penn's character very much. I just wish they would've introduced him in some, ANY other capacity so we could avoid the will-they-won't-they nonsense that will likely ensue through May. Sigh.

Oh, and Robin's a *****.

This.

The security video at the concert was pretty funny. "It's a sign, dude." :D
Why did they feel the needed to do this to Barney's character?

It's a comedy. Did they think they need to make him a redeemable person?

We don't want him to be. We don't care.

It's just so dumb. The "lead" character, the one supposed to be finding his true love on the show's love life is horribly going nowhere, and the sidekick, the comedy backbone of the show is finding true love.

Blech.

Wow, that was an awful episode. The whole Marshall and Ted plot line was probably the worst I have ever seen on this show.

It's probably more funny if you eat a sandwich before watching it...
At first I was annoyed they made Robin/Barney cheaters, but on second thought that is perfectly in character with both of them. Ted too, for that matter. Marshall and Lily have always been the 'good' ones, with the other three doing a lot of terrible things over the years. It's only fitting they get back together by cheating.
I thought it was OK. Not the best, not the worst. But I'm in the minority that doesn't really care if the mother is introduced anytime soon. It would be nice but certainly not necessary until the end.

The guy who plays Robin's boyfriend is terrible for that part. Not sure why but he really seems out of place in the show IMO.
Quick question... for some reason, last week's episode gave me the impression that they were implying that that was the first time Barney and Robin slept together. I forget what it was, maybe something the Saget voiceover. Anyway, that's not true, right? They dated for a while before, and I assume that involved sex. Am I wrong?

I didn't like this episode either. I've always thought Barney and Robin would be a perfect couple together, but everything about this episode came out as dissonant notes to me.

I did like the Ted/Marshall wandering around high sub-plot, though. I totally called that the guy was a sign and that the nachos came from the trash, but the time-warp caught me by surprise.
Yes, they dated. Yes, they had sex.

I never got the impression that they were trying to suggest anything else...

I thought the same thing-- until the payoff at the end. Then I thought it was pretty hilarious.

Haaaaaaveyoumetbarney?
I just want to see the last slapbet episode. I record this one at a time and let TiVo delete it. I just want to see Barney get that last slap. That is all I care about when it comes to this show.

I don't think they'll ever run out of slaps. The slap commissioner will see to that ;)

I think there are now two slaps remaining after last week's episode.

All of this, especially the blech. Let Barney be Barney!

I keep waiting for John Cho to get lost and walk on set. :)

EDIT: Remembered he was the recruiting lawyer trying to get Marshall to join with the big firm back in 2007. Episode title "I'm Not That Guy"

The robin/barney stuff is boring. The other stuff was ok; the sandwich joke is better when it's in the background of the scene.

I'm thinking they needed to get Barney out of that relationship eventually. I was kind of shocked that they lowered the boom on him that hard though. Maybe like you say, they want him to be sympathetic. It's not working well on me though. There is a big part of me that just thinks he's dumb for letting a really nice girl who was too good for him get away.

I missed that part apparently. How did they get so high and what were they high on? It sounded like they got a spiked sandwich? My wife and I were betting it was LSD... Not sure how I missed that, but I bet it was because I was talking to you guys. :p
They did say they thought the "sandwich" was laced with something, right after they "ate" it.
