How does my recording start on time?

Hi,

I'm in Brisbane, Australia using a plain Tivo. Sometimes when I record a program the program appears to have recorded dead on from the very start of the program. How is this happening?

Does Tivo receive prior warning of exactly when the program starts? Or does it later receive information about when the program started and then chop the recording appropriately?

It just starts recording at the exact time listed in the guide data, and its internal clock is readjusted every time it makes a daily call. Together it's usually a pretty accurate combination.
I noticed this phenomenon this past week with Supernatural.
Sometimes the TV station clock just happens to be sync'd up exactly with the Tivo's clock, I guess. :p
Pretty safe to assume they are all linked via online to get the atom clock time.
