I can't think of a place to put my new TiVo, when I get one, where there isn't already another one. So using the remote for the new one might also make changes I don't want on the first one, or the remote for the other one might make changes I don't want on the new one.

And if anyone wants further explanation ...

The biggest issue is I want to use the new one to test an outdoor antenna before I make a commitment to dropping cable, which I probably can't do since I'm too far away for a dependable signal from most stations. If the new TiVo goes where the Roamio is now, where will the Roamio go? It has to go where cable comes into the house, at least for now. Eventually, if an antenna works, the connection has to go into the house where the Roamio is now.

The process of replacing my Roamio has begun. However, I was told by tech support my Series 2 was also probably no longer able to be used, and that was four years ago. My Roamio probably has a lot of life left in it. But just in case ...

Where I put the new one, I don't know. First, I need a TV that actually works to pair with it. The one I was going to use quit working again. Another one might work but it was having problems before. The one I use with the Roamio right now went bad and then started working again after a rest.
