give me a semi new, yet existing customer (got service march 1 2007) free upgrade to h20, 5 lnb
(hd dish, 1 hd receiver box, while keeping 1 of the current analog boxes) <I have 1 analog tv, and 1 hd tv>
(I live on less than 800.00 monthly and can't afford the upgrade related fees.
which they currently want to charge 120.00 for hd dish, 20.00 shipping, and 50.00 upgrade fee.) :(

thanks.:)

Ask them.

They are motivated to:

1. keep you as a customer

2. prevent you from becoming someone else's customer

3. get more dough from you each month, which they will do if you add boxes rather than swap them.

All I know for certain is that they started making more and better offers when I told them that locally Cox cable had more HD channels and better PQ for a lower price (which was about half-true at the time) and I was considering putting all 3 boxes on eBay and giving cable a whirl.

You want them, they want you. You just have to convince them they want you a bit more than you want them. Tell them a story about how great cable looks at your brother-in-law's house and how happy they are with the service.

why do you need and upgrade? If your system was installed march of 2007 you should have a 5 lnb dish and H20 receiver. If they didn't install the correct dish you should not have to pay for an upgrade for a dish. I think the $50 dollars is for people who dont have to payment history. Just heard that from other people on here with other post about upgrades.

If you are just wanting to upgrade another hd tv then wait at least a year and make sure you bill is paid on time.

I did ask direct tv today, I spent about an hour
(on a pay phone next door at mcdonald's since I no longer have a home phone) only a cell phone
and wasn't about to use minutes and get a huge cell phone bill that couldn't afford all for an 800 #
(no home phone anymore thanks to being screwed over by vonage who is trying to bill me over 200.00
even though I returned the dlink adapter(s) boxes
a little late) due to having health problems
<migraine headaches due in part to not realizing yet that I had glaucoma in my left eye and pain in and above the eye
which turned into migraines for about a month or so.
ended up in er one night due to this and then on pain meds for short time.>
headaches began just as I was trying to get ready to move to a new apt and then off and on since then, but finally resolved
and then couldn't find the dlink boxes (they had to send more than one because first couple were defective) to send back right away but I did eventually find them and sent them back as soon as was better and kenw where they were.
<<I refuse btw to pay vonage for items that I did send back and have proof that I sent them via snail mail from post office still have certificate of mailing that I paid about 1.00 extra for so would have proof, and that they sent me
an email confirmation that they rec'd it>>
:( :(
(I didn't tell direct tv all this about vonage but did mention that live on less than 800.00 monthly which is true.
and that I can't afford the hd dish 120.00, shipping 20.00,
and 50.00 upgrade fee.)
but direct tv after an hour speaking to customer service rep and even supervisor/mgr wouldn't budge.
oh I'd also like a dvr either for my analog tv in living room or for the hd box in bedroom. again no budge.
I did tell them I knew of other offers and was considering going elsewhere for service, still no budge.

I couldn't afford the hd receiver costs when got service had (and still do) fairly new (less than year old)
23 inch flat screen hd tv in bedroom from dell (that I pay dell 40.00 month for)
so would like to be able to use it as an hd tv, which it is. yet I can't afford the fees, direct tv
won't budge since am not (a brand new) customer.:(
didn't want cable and other than satelite wound't have had ANY tv reception in new apt, had very limited antenna
and at least somewhat snowy picture with that in old place without cable and wasn't allowed to get satelite in public housing apt
that I lived in at the time, before section 8 voucher and found this great new place.) :)
