In that case, I would have just recorded the second half of the game. That way you would have had your scheduled recording on one tuner and your game recording on the other, and the suggestion wouldn't have recorded.
How does it know that? Why does it decide to do this when it knows I've paused the thing because I'm away,
Any program that I want to watch I ALWAYS hit the record button. That way if I'm interrupted or start doing something else I will not miss anything. I've been doing that for decades and it prevents me from missing anything on a show on the TiVo as well as when I used VCRs in the 80's and 90's.So I was watching a football game today and needed to go out to get food at halftime. I paused the live TV to be sure I could get back in time. When I got back, the game was paused, but the feed ended right after the hour. It had switched channels to do a recording.
The recording on the current tuner was a scheduled recording, but the other tuner was recording a TiVo suggestion. Why does it decide to do this when it knows I've paused the thing because I'm away, and I'm not there to respond to the change channel prompt. Why can't it just cancel the suggestion and do the scheduled recording on that tuner instead? I understand if it had to perform two scheduled recordings, but it really made me angry that it caused me to miss a significant portion of the game to record some show I probably will never watch.
How can I rely on pausing live TV when it is going to do this to me? I do watch a suggestion every now and then so I don't want to totally turn them off.
Yup! It's not unusual for me to be away from the TV longer than I planned. Maybe I can get away with just Pausing, but the only way to be SURE that I don't miss the show is to Record it.Any program that I want to watch I ALWAYS hit the record button. That way if I'm interrupted or start doing something else I will not miss anything. I've been doing that for decades and it prevents me from missing anything on a show on the TiVo as well as when I used VCRs in the 80's and 90's.
Go with record, I have more than once bumped channels and lost buffers as is stated above. I also have suggestions off.not to mention the fact that you could inadvertently change channels on the which would cause you to lose the buffer.
You could also turn of suggestions.
I hate it when that happens!!!not to mention the fact that you could inadvertently change channels on the which would cause you to lose the buffer.
So YOU'RE the one who's been using my brain when I'm not looking!FWIW, I do turn off suggestions, second thing I do on a new TiVo once I have control. (The first thing is to turn of sound effects).
I've inadvertently left my Tivo paused for days.I agree with the "...just record to be safe." crowd. However, wouldn't it be better logic if suggestions were not recorded when paused because it was an actual user input to get the TiVo into that state.
That's not normally possible in the live buffer. Once you hit the back of the 30 minute buffer it'll unpause and just keep playing 30 minutes behind.I've inadvertently left my Tivo paused for days.
TB would like to record suggestions while his TiVo is in infinite pause...Infinite pause is only on orphaned buffers and recorded shows. What does that have to do with the program logic on how suggestions are handled when in a paused buffer?
He He! You must have to be very careful where you look in Airport waiting areas and some eating places! There's an extremely simple solution. Don't watch live TV. There is no point in doing so. I haven't watched live TV once in over 11 years.
In addition, with a sports event, the TiVo will ask if you want to add any time to cover OTs or a slow game. It will cancel any suggestions and prompt you in the event that you have other conflicts such as season passes or wish lists.
To Pause is to pee, but a sandwich needs a Record.
I always get a chuckle when I read stuff like that. There's an extremely simple solution. Don't watch live TV. There is no point in doing so. I haven't watched live TV once in over 11 years.
