I'm staying in an extended stay. I fired up my TiVo, and I notice in the list they have several hotels. Candlewood Suites, etc.

Will they make me an "Extended Stay" lineup? How do I ask?

Don't the lineups at extended stays vary by location? Get a slingbox.
probably.. But if he can get it hooked up to the TV AND can tune channels with it AND can get a custom line up for that specific hotel, then would work

but that's a lot of ifs. I would not get my hopes up.

First two are already done. Just need the lineup!

I spent two years traveling all over the country and I spent a lot of time in ExtendedStays, among others. I carried a ReplayTV with me everywhere I went so I know exactly what you're going through. Almost every hotel has their own proprietary lineups and they're different for every single location. Some of them are a combination of satellite channels and local cable channels that are all combined into their hotel video distribution system.

What I used to do was scan all of the hotel channels to see what they carried and then set up the ReplayTV using one of the local cable company lineups that carried all the same channels. I would then map the channels and make up a cross-reference list. This would allow me to see when shows were on that I wanted to record along with a description of the program. However, I'd have to set up the recording on the actual channel that carried the program. I'd usually just record whatever show was in the desired timeslot on the correct channel, even though it would show up as something completely different in the Now Showing list (or whatever the Replay called it). Sometimes I'd have to set it up as a manual recording but at loeast I'd have a bunch of shows to watch when I got back from whatever site I was working at the time.

I really think TiVo should have a 'manual remap' function. They could put all kinds of warnings and disclaimers that they aren't going to support it, it may not work, etc. But then I should be able to tell it channel 14 is ESPN, 15 is USA, etc.

Sounds like a good idea for a hack. ;) If the hackers develop it then no doubt Tivo will eventually incorporate it and announce to the world the wonderful new features they're offering us. FYI - virtually every "new" feature incorporated into every new software release has been enjoyed by the hacking community long before Tivo released it officially.

I would say never gonna happen. This is (IMHO) more important for QAM channels on series 3s, but it hasn't happened there and doesn't seem likely to happen..

the 'travelling' case is much more rare.
