HFC this is getting good.
FYP.I definitely did not see the Walker twist coming. I kept listening to Saul in the car on the way back, imagining him talking toElaineAileen as if they were both in on it, and waiting for my theory to crumble.

I'm not convinced that Brody is innocent. Walker and Brody may both be turned. That Brody can beat a polygraph, and that he lies about being faithful when he had little reason to, looks awfully suspicious. And if Brody did not slip the razor blade, who did?Sgt. Brody was Walker the sniper's spotter. Can we predict the climatic scene where Brody arrives and gets Walker to stand down?
....
How did they make Brody believe he killed and buried Walker? I guess they could have pulled him out of the "grave," or just with some brain washing under stress made him believe it happened - sorta like a false confession.
I cannot make sense of it either, unless both Walker and Brody were turned.I'm having a hard time imagining why they would go through this much effort with the other POW. With Brody it would make sense - he'd be hailed as a hero and maybe seek political office. No one would suspect anything and he's be able to do whatever he wanted. With Walker they would basically have to do all of the same things they'd do for a regular member of Al Qaeda... fake documents, smuggling him into the country, flying under the radar, etc.
Bait/red herring.I suppose you could say that the terrorists tried to turn both of them, but they failed on Brody. But if they did turn Walker (and not Brody), then why didn't they let Walker be "saved" and return as a hero?
I don't follow. Would you elaborate?Bait/red herring.
Based on what you said (successfully turning Walker but not Brody), perhaps they would decide to release Brody to keep eyes away from Walker. Let Brody take the spotlight while the successfully turned prisoner succeeds in the terrorist plot.I don't follow. Would you elaborate?
But why? How does the return of Brody help Walker to accomplish his nefarious mission? Walker still needs a false identity and to sneak into the US. Brody's rescue is hardly going to make border crashing any easier for Walker. And even without Brody's word that Walker is dead, it is not like there would be heightened surveillance in the US for Walker. They might still be looking for him in Iraq, but that would not hinder Walker's mission.Based on what you said (successfully turning Walker but not Brody), perhaps they would decide to release Brody to keep eyes away from Walker. Let Brody take the spotlight while the successfully turned prisoner succeeds in the terrorist plot.
Except she wasn't bawling and he doesn't know she's insane.Note that the ever-chivalrous Sgt. Brody left Carrie bawling and alone in a cabin in the woods OFF OF HER MEDICINE WITH A LOADED GUN. If Carrie can't make a call to her sister to take her up on a rescue we'll have no Carrie. Dun-Duhn-duhhhn and now her cell phone battery dies and she didn't bring the charger. Can you say "Pine Barrens?"
I'll cut Brody slack because he was shocked and p*d.
I thought she was doing some excellent undercover work, at least until she made the stupid comment about the tea. And she even managed to salvage that somewhat, getting Brody to admit to killing Walker and lying about seeing the terrorist leader. I think, as Carrie said, parts of the weekend were real to her, but even so, she never lost sight of her objective. Good spy work, I think. Of course, she is in bad shape at the end of the episode, being off her meds.Well, that was unexpected. Carrie is so far into the weeds on this one, she's gonna need a compass, a GPS and a dog sled team to find her way back.
Well, after the bombmaker told Carrie that an American POW had been turned, they could assume the CIA would be looking for a repatriated American POW but not two.Based on what you said (successfully turning Walker but not Brody), perhaps they would decide to release Brody to keep eyes away from Walker. Let Brody take the spotlight while the successfully turned prisoner succeeds in the terrorist plot.
How would the terrorists know that Carrie was told that?Well, after the bombmaker told Carrie that an American POW had been turned, they could assume the CIA would be looking for a repatriated American POW but not two.
