Spectrum was out to my place today checking on a signal strength issue where my internet is out sometimes when I turn on my computer in the AM forcing me to reboot my router.
Yesterday, I upgraded my 5 splitters from the Spectrum 1,000 Mhz to the new ones I bought which are 2,500 Mhz. But of course they swapped out a few of their 1,000 Mhz again. Which I put mine back again right after he left.
He did take off my Holland POE filter and put on their own at the outside junction box just before the splitter. It splits as one side goes to the modem in my kitchen and the other side splits to the Romeo and the TA. I also had a POE filter going into the TA Adapter. He took my Holland POE off as he said Spectrum's specs don't call for a filter at the TA adapter.

Two questions:
.1 do I need a POE on the TA adapter? (I had one on for years from a thread here).
.2 can I leave their POE filter on at the outside box or should I swap it back to my Holland POE?

Moca always mucked with my Spectrum TA (Motorola), so I had to leave it on.

On the other hand, my modems always tolerated Moca, so the filter at the POE before the split was ok.

But if all is working for you as is, may as well leave it alone.

Thx mdaveej for that response. Tonight while tuning into tv channel 1 (Spectrum news) it was breaking up. I checked the diagnostics and the cable card came up first with a signal strength of 67% with no POE filter at the TA input. I re-installed the filter and signal went back to 98%. Channel is clear again. Looks like that answered my question.

Assuming your Holland PoE was on the input port of a splitter that was "upstream" from all MoCA devices, having it indoors should given significantly better MoCA signal strength than you would get from having the PoE outside. This is especially true if the coax from outside to inside is long.

My setup is the feed from the street is split in the box. One side runs about 40 feet outside the house to my 2nd fl kitchen and into the router. Then its split to the TV and the router. The other side runs around 20 feet through the outside wall into my 2nd fl living room to a 2 way splitter. One side goes to the TA and the Roamio and the other side runs into the next room into a 3 way splitter which feeds 3 rooms and 3 tvs. It's been working very good for 6 years with the occasional mini burning out (looping to the Tivo guy) 3 of the 4 were replaced with their refurbs over the years. Last of which was last month which started the "can't find Roamio" issue. There is a POE filter on the street feed before the splitter. And when I replaced the POE at the TA input the Spectrum tech took off my cable card jumped from 67% to 98% so I need this 2nd POE where it is.

Is there a mini/TiVo for every TV? If there is a mini in the kitchen, then it is probably best to leave the PoE outdoors. If there are only minis/TiVo on the "other side" (non-modem) then the best place for the PoE is on the input of the 2-way splitter. The coax runs are probably short enough that the difference won't be noticeable, so if everything is working well you could just leave it as-is.
