A rather short, six episodes, exploration of the video game industry. It focuses on the people who developed the games, paying relative little attention to the hardware. Very interesting, even for one who hasn't been a video game player.

Watched this over the weekend and enjoyed it. Not really a gamer, but I was familiar with all the games they mentioned and played most of them at some point.

Thought it was pretty good, have been looking forward to it for a while (heard about it months ago)
I guess it was what I was expecting, but didn't learn a whole lot.
I guess the best part was the SEGA episode
I was kind of surprised they stopped in the mid 90s with Doom. I remember playing Castle Wolfenstein 3D and Doom and how dizzy they would both make me from motion sickness. But really that was the beginning of modern gaming. I figured they'd touch more on advances in realistic video and sound through the 2000s, or online gaming. But they did a little of that. Overall, it was fun.

For people that like this kind of genre:

Console Wars - September 23 - CBS All Access
An Official Selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, Console Wars takes viewers back to 1990 when Sega, a fledgling arcade company, assembled a team of misfits to take on the greatest video game company in the world, Nintendo. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, no-holds-barred conflict that pit brother against brother, kids against grownups, Sonic against Mario, and uniquely American capitalism against centuries-old Japanese tradition. For the first time ever, the men and women who fought on the front lines for Sega and Nintendo discuss this battle that defined a generation.
